UMBC injects parity into NCAAs

COLLEGE PARK -- Nearly two days of first-round NCAA Division I men's lacrosse tournament games had been played before it finally happened. The regular-season parity that increasingly has crept into the sport in recent years finally spilled over into the postseason.

The UMBC Retrievers and the Delaware Blue Hens, each an unseeded team with little tournament history, weighed in and did some major damage to the bracket yesterday.
