The Baltimore Sun

Now, I'm not a superstitious person. But then I read this "weather history" note from the National Weather Service forecast office for northern Indiana. It says on this date (May 13) in 1930 (the digits add up to 13), a 39-year-old farmer (three times 13) was caught outside in a sudden hailstorm 30 miles northwest of Lubbock, Tex. He was "beaten to death by the hail." Yikes! No chance of hail today, but be careful out there. And have a happy Mother's Day.
