164 minutes is too long to reflect on silence

The Baltimore Sun

Into Great Silence doesn't beg to be loved. It would be beneath its dignity to beg for anything. But it does deserve to be loved. Its philosophy is beautiful and its intentions are pure, and it shows a way of life that most people in this materialistic and noisy world would consider unbearable.

But try as I might, I could not love it, because as a piece of cinema, Into Great Silence would try the patience of a saint.

Into Great Silence (Zeitgeist Films) Documentary directed by Philip Groning. In French and Latin with subtitles. Unrated. Time 164 minutes.
