The Baltimore Sun

The Ex

Rating -- PG-13

What it's about -- Young couple moves to her hometown where he starts a new job with her old boyfriend.

The Kid Attractor Factor -- Zach Braff, wheelchair jokes, slapstick.

Good lessons/bad lessons -- People in wheelchairs can be jerks, too.

Violence -- Slap-fights, knees to the groin, etc.

Language -- A wee bit of profanity.

Sex -- Discussed, argued over, bragged about.

Drugs -- A little booze is consumed, and there is a drug reference.

Parents' advisory -- Romantic comedies don't do much for younger kids, but it's teen-appropriate.

Georgia Rule

Rating -- R

What it's about -- An out-of-control teen goes to live with her no-nonsense granny.

The Kid Attractor Factor -- Lindsay Lohan, appearing in a movie, not a new scandal.

Good lessons/bad lessons -- Be like Jane. Not like Lindsay. Even Lindsay should know that.

Violence -- A baseball bat is wielded, comically.

Language -- PRO-fanity.

Sex -- Far more explicit than you might expect.

Drugs -- Discussed, at length.

Parents' advisory -- This is a lot edgier than a Mother's Day comedy ought to be. Mothers shouldn't take daughters younger than 15.
