A 34-year-old Baltimore man was sentenced to more than 15 1/2 years in federal prison yesterday for being a felon in possession of a firearm, prosecutors said.
Timothy Dwight Cornwell has previous felony convictions for escape, assault and robbery, and federal prosecutors said he is classified as a career criminal.
Cornwell pleaded guilty in February 2006 after being arrested by a Baltimore police officer answering a drug dealing complaint in the 1000 block of Abbott Court.
Police said the officer saw Cornwell hide a gun in a mail slot in a house.
