The lowdown -- WTMD's 1st Thursday Concert Series will kick off its season with music from Julian Velard and the Eva Castillo Trio. Hailing from Brooklyn, N.Y., singer-songwriter Velard plays a distinctive brand of piano rock infused with rich vocals and instrumentation, while Baltimore-based Castillo creates a soulful sound with her acoustic guitar-based rhythm and blues.

The lowdown -- The third annual Charm City Scooter Rally will be held this weekend. The three-day event starts with a meet-and-greet and registration tomorrow at Club Charles and continues with group rides around town, scooter judging Saturday and a brunch Sunday.
