Marketing class to help fire company

The Baltimore Sun

In an event similar to NBC's The Apprentice television show, students from adjunct instructor Barbara Surran's Principles of Marketing class at Howard Community College will present marketing plans to the Savage Volunteer Fire Department.

A winning group is to be selected by a panel of judges. The Fire Department will receive a copy of each group's marketing plan. The fire company, which is operated mostly by volunteers, approached the college for help with fundraising and marketing in preparation for moving to a new fire station to be built on Washington Boulevard and Corridor Road.

The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 7 in Room 401 of the Rouse Company Foundation Student Services Hall at the college, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
