Lelah Katherine Gnagey died on Wednesday, April 4 at 10:04 p.m. after a brief battle with reoccurring breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Roy, a daughter, Nina Sue Beckwith of Fuquay-Varina, NC and a son, Kenneth Spencer of Old Monroe, MO. She also has a surviving sister, Emma Gabbert of Westover, MD and two brothers, Bill Freeland of Paris, PA and Jim Freeland of Columbus, OH. In addition she leaves behind five grandchildren, Michelle, Catherine, Kenneth, Kris and Dan and eight great grandchildren, Amber, Caitlyn, Megan, Tristan, Brayden, Kenneth, Chelsea and Michaela. Due to a prolonged illness suffered by her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Gnagey had just recently relocated to Fuquay-Varina, NC to be closer to family members. Up until that time they had been long-time residents of Westover, MD since Mr. Gnagey's retirement from Bethlehem Steel Corporation. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 28th at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Windsor Point, 1221 Broad Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Thomas Funeral Home is assisting the Gnagey Family.
