Three years after the successful launch of her Thames Street store, Alison Schuch, owner of Fells Point Surf Co., has opened another shop specializing in gear for the waves or the slopes.

The store, selling everything from surfboards to snow boots, is nestled in the Lake Falls Village shopping plaza -- miles from any sandy beach or icy mountaintop, but ideal for her customer base, Schuch says.

"We sell merchandise that appeals to a full gamut of people," Schuch says. "From infants to business professionals, there is something for everyone. We even sell business casual clothes that double as evening wear."

With brands such as Billabong, Quicksilver, Roxy, Rusty, Etnie, Vans and DC, the store looks like one you might find on an oceanfront boardwalk strip, but the feel, Schuch says, is more like a boutique.

Shoppers browse as a soundtrack of pop and rock plays in the background. Schuch says she aims for friendly service to set the Fells Point Surf Co. apart from other stores targeting the same market.

"We pride ourselves on customer service," Schuch says. "Without our customers, our stores wouldn't be successful."
