Update meeting set on Krimgold Park

The Carroll County Department of Recreation and Parks will hold a Krimgold Park update meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the lower level of Winfield Bible Chapel at 5407 Woodbine Road in Woodbine.

Hearing is April 26 on land measure

County staff recently presented the county commissioners with proposed amendments to: Chapter 71, Adequate Public Facilities and Concurrency Management; Chapter 103, Development and Subdivision of Land; and Chapter 223, Zoning, to allow for the construction of detached accessory dwellings on properties subject to an Agricultural Land Preservation Easement.

Construction and location of the dwelling would require the approval of the local Agricultural Land Preservation Advisory Board and would be exempt from concurrency management.

A public hearing on the proposed amendments will be at 2 p.m. April 26 in Room 300A, County Office Building, 224 N. Center St.

A pre-hearing workshop will be at 4 p.m. tomorrow in Room 105 of the County Office Building.

Roads to close Wednesday for race

Motorists in Westminster are reminded that both lanes of Main Street between Colonial Avenue and Liberty Street (Route 27) will be closed from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening for the Westminster Road Runners Club Main Street Mile Run.

Commissioners to discuss budget

The county commissioners will release their proposed budget at a 10 a.m. news conference Thursday in the County Office Building's public hearing room.

Director of management and budget Ted Zaleski will then hold three community meetings on the proposal.

Public meeting are scheduled for 7 p.m. as follows: April 23 at Mount Airy Senior Center, 703 Ridge Ave.; April 24 at Taneytown Senior Center, 220 Roberts Mill Road; April 26 at the County Office Building, Room 003, 224 N. Center St., Westminster.

City Election Forum slated for April 26

The Taneytown Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the City Election Forum from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 26 at the Taneytown Senior Center.

The forum will feature questions submitted by residents. Time permitting, more questions may be asked after 10 random questions are answered.

Boxes for questions are located through Thursday at the Taneytown library branch, Matlin Signs, Irish Moon Coffee House, Flickinger's Barber Shop, Ice Cream Shack, Kennies Market, Food Lion, the Liquor Barn, City Office and Chamber office.

Program raises alcohol awareness

An Alcohol Awareness Program will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Community Media Center, 1301 Washington Road, Westminster.

The county commissioners, media center and Junction Inc. are sponsoring the event, which features teens and adults sharing thoughts, stories and solutions on alcohol abuse and addiction.

Speakers, performances by Foolproof, and music by Foretold will be featured. Pizza will be served.
