REALITY CHECK

The Baltimore Sun

Remember back when this season of American Idol was being trimmed from 24 to 12 and maintaining its male-female ratio how unfair it seemed? The women were clearly so much stronger than the men, but the Top 12 had to include six of each.

So how is it that with nearly half the field gone, there are more guys left? It seemed crazy that Phil Stacey (not to mention Sanjaya Malakar) made it to the finals when Sabrina Sloane didn't. And now Stacey and Malakar have outlasted Stephanie Edwards and Gina Glocksen. I wouldn't have predicted that a few weeks ago.
