The Perfect Poor

The Baltimore Sun

Hometown -- Baltimore

Current members --Nick Albrecht, lead singer and rhythm guitarist; Darren Saxton, bass player; Pat Pulliam, drums

Founded in --2004

Style --rock 'n' roll

Influenced by --Elvis, Dick Dale, Motorhead, Creedence Clearwater Revival

Notable --A number of different drummers and lead guitarists play on the group's debut album, The Devil Made Me Who I Am. It gives the album a choppy feel - something other bands might not tolerate. But Saxton said he and the other two members don't mind. The CD release party is Saturday.

Quotable --"We've kind of got a disjointed sound anyway," Saxton said. "We pull from so many genres. You might hear one song that's a Southern rock song and another song that's more of a rockabilly surf song. ... I guess in some ways it's a good thing, but it's also a bad thing, because a lot of people try and pinpoint you as one genre."

Hear the Perfect Poor on Saturday at Fletcher's Bar, 701 S. Bond St. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. For more information, go to The artist:
