MAJOR SAMUEL MOORE (USAF retired) of Columbia, Maryland died on Thursday, March 22, 2007. He had lung cancer. He was the adored husband of 49 years of Danese Goodwin Moore. The most adored father of Angela Moore Rivers and Andrea Moore Evans of Milan, Italy, and the doting grandfather of Preston Moore Rivers and Aliah Angela-Marie Evans. Major Moore was reared in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Cordoza High School in D.C., Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD., University of California at Berkley; he also attended Brigham Young in Utah, Delaware State, University of Delaware, and Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. He belonged to several professional organizations and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi since 1951. He had a love of education and science and was known for his research abilities and expertise in infectious diseases. Sam is also survived by his sisters Sarah Broadus and Margaret Temple of Washington, D.C., sons-in-law, Kevin C. Rivers and David S. Evans, devoted sisters-in-law, Reva Goodwin Lewie, Edith G. Gibson, Norvice G. Penny, Enolia D. Goodwin, and brothers-in-law, Lemuel Lewie, and Joseph Gibson. He has many nieces and nephews, dear friends, and neighbors to mourn him. He was truly loved. Chapel and graveside services with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 8:30 A.M. at Arlington National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend may meet the family at home 7 A.M. or the Chapel at Arlington 8:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Howard County Foundation for Black Achievement. Send checks to family home.
