Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Rating -- PG
What it's about -- Crime-fighting, pizza-obsessed sewer-raised turtles listen to their teacher, a rat, and make the world a better place.
The kid attractor factor -- Skateboards, swordfights, magic and monsters.
Good lessons/bad lessons -- "Let anger consume you, and pretty soon, you lose sight of everything else."
Violence -- Plentiful, in animated form.
Language -- Very clean.
Sex -- There's one relationship that might go somewhere, not involving a turtle.
Drugs -- Heavens no.
Parents advisory -- The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back to train another generation to love violent martial-arts movies. And that's taking the benign view.
The Last Mimzy
Rating -- PG
What it's about -- Children find a box filled with magical tools bringing a message from the future.
The kid attractor factor -- Young children develop extraordinary powers, try to save the day.
Good lessons/bad lessons -- Kids shouldn't keep secrets from their parents, and adults should spend less time at work and more time listening to their children.
Violence -- A black-suited SWAT team bursts into a family home.
Language -- Pretty clean.
Sex -- A teacher's bare bottom is almost shown.
Drugs -- None.
Parents advisory -- Not remotely as moving or as exciting as E.T., but that's what they were aiming for, not a bad goal for a kid's movie to have.
