Bernard F. "Bernie" Cavanaugh, who was a company controller and avid sports fan, died of a heart attack Monday at St. Joseph Medical Center. The Baldwin resident was 49.
Mr. Cavanaugh was born in Baltimore and raised in Loch Raven Village. He was a 1975 graduate of Loch Raven High School and earned a bachelor's degree in economics in 1980 from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. In 1992, he earned a master's in business from Loyola College.
Mr. Cavanaugh had worked in the aerospace industry for 30 years, and was controller for many years of a General Electric Co. subsidiary in Middle River.
An Orioles, Ravens and University of Maryland sports fan, he also enjoyed playing sports and collected baseball cards.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 8501 Loch Raven Blvd., Baynesville.
Surviving are his wife of 15 years, the former Robin Meloni; four daughters, Rachel L. Cavanaugh, 14, Rebecca A. Cavanaugh, 12, and twin daughters Sarah F. Cavanaugh and Katie E. Cavanaugh, 9; four sisters, Kathy C. Germack and Colleen A. Cavanaugh, both of Bel Air, Cheryl L. Rodgers of Cary, N.C., and Carol A. Ferguson of Mullica Hill, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
