COL. AUGUST EDWARD "AUGGIE" WEIL, SR., retired, U.S. Air Force, returned home on Tuesday, March 6, 2007. Auggie was born in Baltimore, MD on December 29, 1920, and was a 1940 graduate at Poly. He fought a great battle not only in the end, but his entire life, serving 30 years in the United Stated Air Force. he flew many missions over Europe and Korea during World War II and the Korean War. he also served in many locations throughout the united States and in Iceland, all with pride and dignity. His grandchildren will always treasure his recollection of wartime stories and his unending energy to create and play some of the finest games. He met the love of his life, Julia Taylor, in the military. They were married on October 31, 1945. together they raised four children and lived in many locations. Julia preceded Auggie in death in 2002. Auggie was also preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Jean Appling and is survived by his children, Linda Weil Lee of Fullerton, CA., August E. Weil, Jr. and wife Laurie of Deer Park, WA, Charles Alan Weil and wife Cindy of Vancouver, WA; his brother, David Weil of Whitehall, MD; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A full honor service was held at noon on Monday, March 12, at Willamette national Cemetery in Portland, OR.
