PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Jaclyn Nucci
South River
The 5-foot-9 junior forward had a major breakthrough in her second full season on varsity, averaging 20.3 points and 9.6 rebounds to lead the Seahawks to a 15-9 record. Nucci, who averaged 13 points last season, took on the responsibility of being the team's go-to player and thrived, also averaging three assists and 2.7 steals per game. Her ability to consistently hit outside jumpers and get to the basket caused matchup problems for opponents. She got to the free-throw line an average of nine times per game, connecting on 75 percent of her shots.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Craig White
Old Mill
The 10-year coach led the No. 9 Patriots to their first state tournament appearance since 1993, relying on a senior-laden team that played an up-tempo style with a confidence that grew as the season progressed. The Patriots dominated a tough Class 4A East region in the playoffs, highlighted by a 77-51 win over county rival Arundel in the title game. It was White's first win over No. 10 Arundel, a perennial state power, and came after two previous losses to the Wildcats during the season. The Patriots went on to lose to Blake in the state semifinals to put White's career mark at 116-117 in his 10 seasons.
