PERFORMER OF THE YEAR
Justin Murdock
Glen Burnie
The senior had never participated in track and field before coming out for the indoor team as a junior to try to improve his football skills. But he's now perhaps the top sprinter in the state and one of the best in the nation.
Murdock's time of 6.21 seconds in the 55 meters at the Class 4A-3A state meet was the best in the country this winter. This came just a few days after he set another national standard (6.27) at the regional meet.
Murdock didn't lose a race all winter, and before that he won the state championship in the Class 4A 100-meter dash last spring.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Nigel Holder
Meade
Holder guided the Mustangs to the Anne Arundel County and Class 4A-3A Central regional championships. Meade also finished third in a tough field at the state meet.
Led by All-Metro pick Malik Zafar, Terry Marshall, Matthew Brinkley and others, the Mustangs could score points in a variety of ways.
