Denver upends UMBC, 13-8

Michael Goltra had two goals and two assists, as No. 20 Denver (3-2) knocked off No. 19 UMBC (2-1), 13-8, in the final game of the Pioneer Face-Off Classic in Denver yesterday.

Denver's Goltra and Jon Paulson each had two goals. Andy Gallagher led the Retrievers with five goals.

Salisbury 28, Roanoke 4 -- Matt Hickman of the host Sea Gulls (5-0) led all scorers with his third straight five-goal performance. Matt Dasinger scored a season-best seven points (four goals, three assists) and Kylor Berkman had three assists and a goal. Salisbury had 15 goal scorers.

Villa Julie 11, Catholic 4 -- Greg Furshman scored four goals to lead the visiting Mustangs (3-0) past the Cardinals (1-2).


UMBC 11, Oregon 10 -- Abbey Swift scored with 58 seconds remaining in overtime, giving the host Retrievers (3-2) a victory over the Ducks (3-3).

McDaniel 14, Guilford 4 -- Erinn Hopkins scored her first six goals of the season to lead the Green Terror (2-0) to its most lopsided victory since 2002. Meagan Mattson added three goals and an assist in the victory over the Quakers (0-2).

Villa Julie 25, Hood 1 -- Meghan Smith led the visiting Mustangs (1-3, 1-2 Capital Athletic Conference) with six goals against the Blazers (0-1, 0-1). Jamie Jones added four goals, and Cat Connelly, Brittany Connelly, Lauren Zegowitz and Julie each had three.
