With his degree in hand and job offers on the table, Ed Douglas could have let go of his passionate hobby and started the next phase of his life.

But walking away from Duke lacrosse never struck Douglas as the right path to take. Not yet. Not after he had lived through the disastrous spring of 2006, when three teammates were accused of raping an exotic dancer at a team party, a longtime coach resigned under pressure, a season was aborted after eight games and the future of one of the sport's elite programs hung in the balance.
