Boy, 17, dies after shooting at corner

A 17-year-old boy died early yesterday after being shot once in the head by an unknown assailant Monday night about a block from his home in Baltimore's Barclay neighborhood, city police said.

Vic Roy Fenner of the 2200 block of Guilford Ave. was standing at Guilford Avenue and 21st Street about 7:50 p.m. when he was shot at close range, police said.

Fenner was living with his grandmother in the 2200 block of Guilford while his mother serves time at the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women at Jessup for an undisclosed offense, police said.

He died about 4 a.m. at Hopkins Hospital, becoming the city's 45th homicide victim this year, police said.

No arrest had been made and police knew of no motive for the killing. Metro Crime Stoppers at 410-276-8888 is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the slaying.
