La Leche of Columbia will meet at 10 a.m. March 2 and at 7:30 p.m. March 20 at Owen Brown Community Center.
The group offers support, information and guidance to breast-feeding mothers. Pregnant women, as well as infants and toddlers, are welcome.

Teen center to focus on baby-sitting skills
Columbia Teen Center will offer its "Baby-sitting Made Easy" class for youths ages 11 to 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at The Barn in Oakland Mills Village Center.
First aid, emergency procedures, age-appropriate activities and other skills will be taught through hands-on activities. A certificate is awarded.
The cost is $40 for Columbia residents; $48 for nonresidents. Registration is required.

Master gardeners set spring seminars
The Kings Contrivance Community Association will offer free gardening seminars at Amherst House, 7251 Eden Brooke Drive.
Master gardeners Pat Greenwald and Deborah Patton will present a program on herbs - growing them in containers, harvesting them and preserving them - from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 26.
The two master gardeners will present "Waking Up the Garden," a program on early spring tasks for gardeners, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 12.

Science, Dr. Seuss offered at library
The east Columbia library will offer a four-week program for children ages 3 to 6 with an adult, "Spring into Science," at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. March 1-29. Tickets are available at the Children's Desk an hour before the 45-minute program. There will be no session on March 22.
"Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss," a celebration of the beloved author's birthday for children ages 3 to 5, will be offered at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. March 2. Tickets are available at the Children's Desk an hour before the 30-minute program.

Classes -- Long Reach Community Association is offering Ballet with Cindee Velle for children ages 3 and older and adults, through March 24. Classes include "First Steps," "Pre-ballet," "Combination Classes" and "Classical Ballet" as well as jazz, tap, pointe, hip-hop and modern dance.
