A 10-year-old Perry Hall boy suffered an apparent head injury yesterday while sledding down a hill near Perry Hall High School - the second serious sledding mishap in the metropolitan area in as many days.

The boy - a resident of the first block of Ratna Court, which is near the school campus - was flown by a state police helicopter to the pediatric intensive care unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital, authorities said. His name, condition and details of the accident were not immediately available.

Wednesday afternoon, a 12-year-old Anne Arundel County boy sledding on a hill on Old Dairy Farm Road in Gambrills was run over by a pickup truck when he traveled into the roadway.

The boy, whose name was not released, was reported in serious condition yesterday at Johns Hopkins. Anne Arundel police said the driver was unable to see the boy because of trees and hedges that blocked his view.
