Two teenagers have been charged in the death of a Dundalk man.
Dominic Alan Strong, 18, of the 2500 block of W. Woodwell Road and Jason Michael Hammonds, 16, of the 7200 block of Eastern Ave. have been charged with first-degree murder, charging documents show. Hammonds was charged as an adult.
Hammonds' father, Danny Ray Hammonds, 52, was fatally shot by police serving a search warrant Monday at their eastern Baltimore County home.
Both suspects were denied bail during a court hearing yesterday, police said.
They are accused of killing Joseph Francis Hoffman, 51, whose body was found Saturday in his home in the 200 block of S. Woodwell Road, charging documents show.
The state medical examiner's office determined that Hoffman had suffered injuries to his head, court documents show.
In an interview with police, Strong told authorities he and Jason Hammonds went to Hoffman's home Feb. 9 "to get money that was owed to Dominic Strong for work that was supposedly completed," court papers show.
Police went to Hammonds' home about 5 a.m. Monday, and an officer fired several shots after the teenager's father reached for a rifle and refused an officer's demands to stop, police said. Danny Hammonds was shot at least once and died at the scene, police said.
Police would not identify yesterday the officer who fired the fatal shot, pointing to the police union's contract with the county and "safety issues."
