Valentine's Day celebration today

The Brooklyn Park Senior Center, 202 Hammonds Lane, will celebrate Valentine's Day this morning.

Patrons are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite couple at 9:30 a.m. Other seniors will try to identify the famous couples. A prize will be awarded for the best costumes.

After that, Al Callahan, winner of the Baltimore Senior Idol contest in 2005 and runner-up in the Maryland Senior Idol contest the same year, will perform songs by Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Dean Martin.

Call to schedule help with taxes

Anne Arundel County senior centers are taking appointments from residents who wish to meet with an income tax assistant.

State and federal income tax returns will be electronically filed directly from the center.

This service is free, regardless of age, but is limited to simple personal tax returns.
