Eileen May Moran, a middle school art teacher, died of cancer Friday at the home of a family member in Annapolis. The former Catonsville resident was 54.

Born Eileen May Moran in Baltimore and raised in Severna Park, she was a 1970 graduate of Severna Park High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in art education from Towson University in 1990 and a master's degree in art education from the same school in 1995.

Ms. Moran was an art teacher at Catonsville Middle School from 1990 to 2004. She moved to Colorado in 2004 and taught at South Park High School in Fairplay, Colo.

She was an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 874 in Ellicott City in the 1990s and a Sunday school teacher at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ellicott City.

She also enjoyed skiing, hiking and making pottery.

Survivors include her husband, Garry Snyder, whom she married in 2006; two sons, Daryl Lang of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Gerritt Lang of Washington; and a sister, Erin Ackerman of Forest Hill. Her 1974 marriage to Richard Lang ended in divorce.
