Area events rescheduled

School cancellations around the metro area after yesterday morning's snowfall forced the postponement of several high school swimming and wrestling championship events as well as two key girls basketball games.

The Harford County swimming championship boys finals, originally scheduled for last night, will be held tomorrow at 5:45 p.m. at Magnolia Middle School. The girls finals will go on as scheduled today at 5:45 p.m. at Magnolia.

In wrestling, all the state duals regional meets involving metro-area teams also were postponed until tonight, with semifinals beginning at 5:30 and finals at 7:30:

Class 4A-3A North meet semifinals at North Carroll: No. 8 North Carroll vs. Catonsville and Kenwood vs. Urbana.

Class 4A-3A East at James M. Bennett: Bel Air vs. Bennett and No. 4 Old Mill vs. No. 14 Arundel.

Class 2A-1A North at Owings Mills: Eastern Tech vs. No. 7 Owings Mills and No. 10 Milford Mill vs. No. 6 Hereford.

Class 2A-1A South at Glenelg: No. 11 Hammond vs. No. 5 Glenelg and Atholton vs. Calvert.

Two Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference basketball games were moved to today with earlier start times. No. 1 St. Frances will head to No. 5 McDonogh for a 4:30 p.m. game, and No. 2 Towson Catholic plays at No. 3 Seton Keough at 4 p.m.
