It's been really cold up in White Hall, where David Boyd writes, "Even with gloves on, my fingers get very cold. What are the signs of frostbite?" Your first clue might be a tingling sensation, or a throbbing ache. But that gives way to hard, pale skin with no feeling at all. Thawed, your skin becomes red and painful, or pale and numb leading to blisters and gangrene. Prolonged exposure, wind, wet gloves, smoking and poor circulation make things worse. Too cold? Go inside.
