Drug ring member sentenced to 20 years

A member of a notorious Baltimore street gang that led a crack cocaine-dealing ring was sentenced yesterday to 20 years in prison, federal prosecutors said. Gregory Parker, 27, of Baltimore had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine in U.S. District Court.

Parker, who prosecutors said was the leader of a group called the Jugs, distributed more than 3.3 pounds of crack to dealers in the neighborhoods surrounding the public housing complexes in West Baltimore from 2000 to 2003.

Parker's prosecution was the result of a joint federal and state investigation that lead to the convictions of 10 gang members and the closing of at least 25 homicide cases, prosecutors said.
