Turns out that South Beach isn't exactly the perfect place for someone on the South Beach Diet. Who knew?
The hottest spot (and the coolest spot at the same time) in Miami might be the best place on Earth to go girl-watching and mojito-sipping, but it apparently is no place for a highly disciplined carb-counting columnist.
Still, a meal at Larios in South Beach is not a bad way to kick off Super Bowl week. The oceanfront restaurant is owned by singer Gloria Estefan and features a large selection of terrific Cuban dishes. I had the churrasco marinated skirt steak (I've always been a skirt-chaser) with chimichurri sauce.
Everything would have been fine if I had stopped there, but what are you supposed to do when there is a mound of rice and beans right next to the South Beach-friendly 8-ounce steak?
I don't think they make low-carb rice, which could become a problem this week.
