Terps fall in OT at No. 23 Va. Tech Blacksburg, Va. -- It was supposed to be another one of Mike Jones' clutch three-pointers, but instead, Maryland's final play in overtime against Virginia Tech last night turned out to be another one of the Terps' missed layups -- and another squandered opportunity.
Maryland made just one field goal in overtime, leading to a 67-64 loss to the 23rd-ranked Hokies in Cassell Coliseum -- a venue where Maryland's hopes of earning its first league road win were dashed, despite showing marked improvement on defense against one of the most experienced backcourt combinations in the country.
