Unidentified pedestrian dies after he is hit by car
An unidentified man died yesterday evening at Maryland Shock Trauma Center after he was struck by a car while crossing Russell Street near Camden Industrial Park in South Baltimore, city police said.
The man was crossing the 1600 block of Russell St. against the traffic signal about 6:30 p.m. near Bush Street. He climbed over a concrete barrier at a road construction site when he was struck by a southbound Chevrolet, said Sgt. Kevin Chubb of the city police accident investigation unit.
Chubb said the man suffered multiple injuries and was taken by a city Fire Department ambulance to Shock Trauma, where he died a short time later.
Chubb said the driver of the car was uninjured and remained at the scene. Traffic was detoured from the accident site for about two hours, Chubb said.
