Doug Alexander, public information officer for the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association, was unanimously elected second vice president of the organization at last week's monthly meeting.
He replaced Mark Bilger, who was elevated to first vice president after Bill Eyler resigned that position last fall because of health problems.
Alexander, a retired career Montgomery County firefighter, has been a member of the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company since 1968, where he is public information officer.
He has held many leadership offices at Mount Airy and is a member of the executive committee of the Maryland State Firemen's Association.
