STOCKTON, Calif. -- The Blast ended a season-high four-game losing streak last night with a convincing 20-9 victory over the California Cougars, the team it last defeated, more than a month ago.
The victory, which was in doubt despite the Blast's 8-0 first-quarter lead, marked the first for the Blast on the road. Brian Rowland was stellar in goal for the Blast (5-6), shutting out the Cougars (5-9) over two quarters and making 17 saves. Mike Lookingland was among six Blast players to score, but his fourth-quarter strike with 9:48 remaining proved to be the game-winner. Lookingland had three goals, Machel Millwood had two and Robbie Aristodemo provided a pair of assists and a goal.
