You can say it doesn't take a rocket scientist to be an NFL cheerleader.
Except when it comes to Summer Williams.
She is one of the Houston Texans cheerleaders and an aerospace engineer for the Jacobs Engineering Group, a NASA contractor. Williams works in a group that helps keep the international space station suitable for living.
Williams enjoyed dance while growing up and after moving to Houston to work for Jacobs, she decided to try out for the Texans cheerleaders after being egged on by male co-workers who thought her tryout would be a good way for them to meet women.
She made it through the selection process but wasn't necessarily about to shout out her success in making the cut.
"I didn't want people to lose any respect for me," she told SI.com. "There is this perception about what a cheerleader is."
Even her perception underwent a change.
"All the girls have to work their butts off," Williams said. "Obviously, my perception ... has changed drastically."
Party all the time
Gilbert Arenas threw himself a little party Friday night in Washington to celebrate his 25th birthday. Just an intimate gathering for 7,500 at the Love nightclub in the District.
Among the notables at the Wizards star's soiree were host Sean "Diddy" Combs and rappers Busta Rhymes, Lil' Wayne, T.I. and The Game. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb showed, as did Washington Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell.
The event cost at least $1 million, The Washington Post reported. Arenas apparently didn't have much to say to the crowd, the Post said, except orders to "get drunk and make bad decisions."
Somehow, Mr. Flip's invitation got lost in the mail.
Compiled from wire and Web reports by Mr. Flip, who is tired of hanging with Diddy, anyway.
