Because of incorrect information supplied by Baltimore County police, an article in the Maryland section yesterday included an incorrect spelling of the name of a Pennsylvania man who was fatally shot by police officers Saturday night after he led them on a chase through an Essex neighborhood and, authorities said, fired a handgun at them. The correct spelling is Justin Carl Wylczynski.

An article about the actor Edward Norton in the Today section yesterday and a film review in the Movies Today section Friday misidentified a Chinese setting in the film The Painted Veil. W. Somerset Maugham's novel is set in Hong Kong, but the film is set in Shanghai.

An Page A1 article Sunday "smart meter" technology incorrectly stated that Baltimore Gas and Electric employs contractors to read electric meters in its territory. The meters are read by BGE employees.
