Matchup -- Florida State (6-6) vs. UCLA (7-5)
Site -- AT&T; Park, San Francisco
Time, TV -- 8 p.m., ESPN
Line -- UCLA by 3 1/2
Key stats -- Florida State is 15th nationally in total defense (278.9 ypg). UCLA is 12th nationally in rush defense (89.9 ypg).
The game -- UCLA is coming in off a victory over archrival USC, which kept the Trojans out of the national title game. The Bruins aren't impressive offensively (76th nationally at 321.4 ypg), but the defense has been stout for most of the season. The Bruins have 40 sacks, thanks to the dynamic end duo of Bruce Davis and Justin Hickman. Both have 12 sacks and they'll be up against a mediocre FSU offensive line. ... This is the final game for FSU offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden. Will he go out a winner? He won't have a chance unless the line controls Davis and Hickman. QB Drew Weatherford gets the start, but backup Xavier Lee has more mobility. WR Greg Carr has 11 of the Seminoles' 18 receiving TDs. Despite its gaudy stats, FSU's defense has struggled at times. FSU is trying to avoid its first losing season since 1976, Bobby Bowden's first season at the school.
