Charlotte's Web

Rating -- G

What it's about -- A little girl, and then a literary spider, find ways to save their friend, a pig, from the smokehouse.

The Kid Attractor Factor -- Funny-talking critters, just like Babe. And lots of them.

Good lessons/bad lessons -- A promise is something you never break.

Violence -- The threat of the pig's death hangs over the picture.

Language -- Very clean.

Sex -- None.

Drugs -- None.

Parents advisory -- A 10-and-under classic, as one of the great children's novels finally inspires a movie worthy of the title.

Rating -- PG

What it's about -- A farm boy in a fantasy land finds a dragon's egg and must learn to be a dragon rider if great evil is to be defeated.

The Kid Attractor Factor -- Hunky hero boy, pretty good special effects, a decent dragon.

Good lessons/bad lessons -- "Death is nothing to celebrate." "It's good to be brave. But sometimes, it's better to be wise."

Violence -- Dragon fights, sword fights, arrows in the head.

Language -- Medieval clean.

Sex -- None.

Drugs -- None.

Parents advisory -- Kids older than 12 or so may find this a trifle dull, borrowing, as it does, so much from Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
