Dennis Mangold writes from Ten Hills: "With the winter chill now in the air, my border collie, Jackson, still likes to play in the water. Can he get hypothermia?" (Hey, I'll tackle anything that's not particle physics.) Pets forced to stay out in cold air or water can suffer hypothermia and frostbite. But Dr. David Grant of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine says healthy dogs will quit the water on their own when they're too cold. Just get Jackson dried off and back indoors.
