The Baltimore Sun

Sure it's cold and dark out. It's December. But here's a ray of hope: Tonight's sunset will be the earliest of the year, at 4:43 p.m. Starting tomorrow, the sun will set a little bit later each day. We tend to notice sunsets more than sunrises, so it will seem as if the days are lengthening. Actually, the sun will continue to rise later each day until Jan. 5. The net effect is that our daylight hours will continue to shrink until the winter solstice, which occurs Dec. 21.
