The lowdown -- About 50 power- and sailboats covered in holiday decorations will take part in this year's Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade on Saturday. The boats will split into two groups -- one circling past Eastport, the City Dock and the Naval Academy seawall, and the other circling Spa Creek upstream from the bridge. The parade will take place in rain or moonshine, as long as there are no fierce winds.

The lowdown -- Revel in Little Italy's holiday spirit Sunday when the neighborhood hosts carolers and lights its tree. Carolers from the Choral Arts Society and an Italian-speaking Santa will make an appearance. Hot apple cider, roasted chestnuts, cookies and other refreshments will also be on hand.

The lowdown -- Sunday morning, naturalist Amanda Thompson leads a free hike to find birds that don't migrate in the winter. It starts with an indoor session at Oregon Ridge Park's Nature Center to discuss what birds people expect to see. If you don't have binoculars, they will be provided.
