College Park -- The Maryland football team will spend Christmas in Orlando, Fla., having extended its bowl trip to more than a week, leaving Dec. 22 and returning Dec. 30. The original plan was to leave Christmas night, but there is a Champs Sports Bowl welcome dinner Dec. 23 with Purdue, and coach Ralph Friedgen said he would like to get at least four practices in by Dec. 27.
It should be an all-expense-paid trip, but it's possible the athletic department could end up with some leftover bills.
