Sophomore guard Kaleo Kina scored a game-high 20 points as host Navy defeated Howard, 79-75, in double overtime last night.
Junior guard Corey Johnson contributed 17 points for Navy, which opened the second extra session with an 11-2 run. Junior swingman Greg Sprink added 15 points for the Midshipmen, who were coming off an overtime victory at Longwood.
Navy (7-2) clamped down in the second overtime, holding Howard (4-4) without a field goal for 10 straight possessions.
The Bison committed four turnovers, two on charges and two on errant passes.
The Midshipmen were clutch at the free-throw line, hitting 18 of 24 in the two overtime periods. Sprink and Johnson combined to make 15 of 20.
Senior forward Darryl Hudson scored a game-high 26 points to lead Howard, which committed 22 turnovers.
Frostburg 74, Shenandoah 65 -- Senior Dale DeBerry scored a game-high 23 points to rally the host Bobcats (2-4) past the Hornets (1-2), who led by five at the half.
Women
Mount St. Mary's 83, Wagner 70 -- Dominique Mazzuchi's career-high 26 points and Tiffany Green's 25 points helped lift the visiting Mount (1-5, 1-0 Northeast) over the Seahawks (1-5, 0-1 NEC). The duo also combined to hit 10 of 17 from behind the arc while helping Mount St. Mary's shoot 45.8 percent (11-for-24) on three-pointers. Olivia Nagle led Wagner with 23 points.
Loyola 81, Saint Francis (Pa.) 64 -- Jill Glessner scored 23 points to power the visiting Greyhounds (3-4) past the Red Flash (3-3). Loyola shot 59 percent from the field in the game and 61 percent in the first half to take a 49-37 lead at the break. Christie Ayers and Kanisha Garrett each had 12 points for St. Francis.
Georgetown 51, Navy 34 -- Kate Hobbs had a game-high 17 points in a losing effort for the host Mids (2-6). Katrina Wheeler and Aminata Diop led the Hoyas (7-2) with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Georgetown has won seven straight. Catholic 72, Hood 45 -- Jennifer Wilson led all scorers with 17 in a losing effort for the host Blazers (0-5). Jackie DeBorger led four double-digit scorers for the Cardinals (5-2).
