Yes, Virginia, there will be a full moon rising around sunset this evening, peeking above the eastern horizon beginning at about 4:09 p.m. Sticklers will insist the orb is not perfectly full until 7:24 p.m. The December full moon is known as the Moon Before Yule, for reasons that need no explaining. It's also called the Long Night Moon. We're nearing the longest night of the year on Dec. 21, thanks to Earth's winter tilt, so tonight's full moon will be up for nearly 16 hours.
