Navy report

The Baltimore Sun

How the game was won --Navy never got into a rhythm on offense but still did enough by rushing for 264 yards. Its only big play was senior receiver Jason Tomlinson's 33-yard touchdown run on a reverse pitch that gave Navy its first lead at 14-7 with 8:49 left in the third quarter. The defense did the rest by forcing two turnovers and scoring nine points in the fourth quarter.

Series update -- Navy leads 51-49-7 and has defeated Army five times in a row.

Next year's game -- The 108th meeting will take place at M&T; Bank Stadium on Dec. 1.

Bowl picture -- The Midshipmen will face an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference - likely Boston College or Maryland - in the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Dec. 30 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
