Dolores Catherine McKenny, a homemaker who had earlier worked in her family's bakery, died of a stroke Sunday at Franklin Square Hospital Center. The Essex resident was 90.
Born Dolores Catherine Kalb in Baltimore and raised in Highlandtown and Essex, she was a 1931 graduate of Our Lady of Mount Carmel parochial school and later earned a General Educational Development certificate.
As a young woman, she worked at her father's Kalb's Bakery, later known as Kalb's All-American Restaurant on Eastern Boulevard in Essex.
Mrs. McKenny was a member of the Essex Senior Center, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and quilting. She also took day trips with other center members.
A funeral Mass was offered yesterday at St. Clare Roman Catholic Church in Essex, where she was a longtime member.
Survivors include five sons, Harry J. McKenny of Fallston, Louis J. McKenny of Columbia, Va., Michael F. McKenny of Jacksonville, Richard J. McKenny of Jarrettsville and Thomas G. McKenny of Fallston; a daughter, Patricia A. Coughlin of Owings Mills; a brother, Joseph Kalb of Essex; two sisters, Charlotte Mosko of Bel Air and Mary Furth of Abingdon; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Her husband of 56 years, Harry Vincent McKenny, a Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. clerk, died in 1991.
