The Emmy Awards always spark morning-after controversy. Remember the debates last year about HBO's critically acclaimed The Sopranos getting shut out in major awards, while Everybody Loves Raymond swept top comedy honors?

This year has been even more contentious, with the nominations themselves coming under fire as the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences added an extra layer of voting to the process in hopes of including some new faces among the finalists.

THE 58TH PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS / / Airs at 8 tonight on NBC.
