Nominees sought for business award

The Bel Air Economic and Community Development Commission is seeking nominations for the Business of the Year Award.

Nominations will be evaluated on the most significant contribution that the Bel Air business has made to the community during the past year in terms of support of town projects, events, activities or the town economy.

Nomination forms are available from the Bel Air Planning Department, 705 Churchville Road.

Humane Society selling raffle tickets

The Humane Society of Harford County Inc. is selling raffle tickets for a five-night cruise on Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas.

Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

The winner will depart Oct. 22 from Baltimore for Bermuda.

All proceeds will benefit the programs of the humane society.

HAR-CO honored for July 4 work

Don Stewart, president of the Bel Air Independence Day Committee, recently presented a plaque to HAR-CO Maryland Federal Credit Union thanking the organization for 11 years of support of the annual July 4 celebrations.

Jim Meehan, HAR-CO president and chief executive officer, accepted the plaque, saying: "The Bel Air Fourth of July celebration is a great local tradition that must be preserved. The Bel Air Independence Day Committee delivers an extraordinary day of fun to Harford's citizens each year."
