Goo Goo Dolls
Counting Crows and the Goo Goo Dolls both appeared in the mainstream in the mid-90s as softer-sounding contrasts to the hard-rocking grunge and alternative rock sounds that were popular at the time. The Goo Goo Dolls found success after releasing the melody-laden, acoustic "Name," from A Boy Named Goo, the group's fifth album. The Counting Crows, whose single "Mr. Jones" brought them into the spotlight with their debut, are in the middle of recording their fifth studio album, which they say will be half loud, rocking songs and half acoustic, country-sounding songs. The two bands play at the Nissan Pavilion on Saturday.
The Nissan Pavilion at Stone Ridge is at 7800 Cellar Door Drive, Bristow, Va. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25.50-$67.50. Call 410-547-SEAT or visit ticketmaster.com.
