The largest drug bust ever in Anne Arundel County will be the subject of a federal prosecution, authorities announced yesterday after five people were indicted.
In May, police seized $9.3 million worth of marijuana and other drugs and arrested four "high-level" dealers, according to officials.
At the time, police displayed almost 700 pounds of high-quality marijuana, bags stuffed with 30,200 blue and pink Ecstasy pills, cocaine, crack and $55,450 in cash seized from raids on a storage facility and the suspects' homes in Glen Burnie and Reisterstown.
Named in the indictments yesterday were Alvin Lomax Burruss, 36, of Reisterstown; Jason Russell Bibeault, 24, of Glen Burnie; Derek Charles Honeycutt, 24, of Glen Burnie; Alfred Milton Anderson, 32, of Glen Burnie; and Elizabeth Mary Cullens, 25, of Reisterstown.
They are accused of participating in a drug conspiracy that is said to have distributed 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana and other drugs. The maximum penalties for the defendants, if convicted, range from five years to life in prison.
